Don't Get Together! quilt

This quilt was a quiltalong with American Patchwork and Quilting Magazine that began in February 2020.  They named it "Get Together" but since it began during the beginning of the Covid pandemic and shelter in place orders, I decided to name mine "Don't Get Together!"  I had to use whatever I had in my stash since quilt stores were all ordered closed.  Therefore, I had to vary the pattern to accommodate my fabrics.  I pieced the top in March 2020 except for the outer border.  When quilt shops finally were able to reopen, I purchased the outer border and the backing.  I completed the quilt by machine quilting it on my domestic machine.  The field is quilted with an orange peel motif.  I used  a stencil for the blue sashing border (wave design), and free motioned quilted the flying geese in my own design.  The outer border is a free motion feather design done without stencils.  The quilt will be used when my grandchildren visit.  It is a twin size quilt.

About Me

My photo
Nancy
I was married to Chris for 42 years before he passed away April 20, 2023. I have two beautiful daughters, Michaele and Jessica. Michaele is married to Matt and they have given me two grandsons, Hudson born in 2014 and Jase born in 2016. They reside in Boise, ID. Jessica is married to Clayton and now resides in Richardson, Texas. They have a son, Oliver (2019) and a daughter, Emmaline (2021). I used to be a registered dietitian, but now am a fulltime homemaker. I learned to sew in 7th grade. My mother told me she would buy me all the fabric I wanted if I would wear what I sewed. I made most of my clothing thru high school. I made my first quilt in high school along with other teen girls from my church to give to a missionary. I made my second solo quilt while in college. I became more interested in quilting after my marriage and have been making several quilts each year since the early 80's. I am a member of the Chisholm Trail Quilt Guild in Georgetown, TX.
